1. This book has been prepared according to the PCI Syllabus of Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. 2. More emphasis has been placed on developing the students ability to visualise the particle nature of matter. 3. The Students can balance equations and do chemical calculations but they cannot answer questions about what is happening on the particle level when an acid reacts with a base. Thus, the book, wherever appropriate, enhances the standard topics covered in synthesis in medicinal chemistry with corresponding descriptions of events from the particles point of view. 4.
